Belgian Specialty Coffee

Belgium has developed one of Europe's most vibrant specialty coffee cultures. Pioneer roasters include Caffenation (Antwerp, 2009), MOK (Ghent, 2011), OR Coffee Roasters (Ghent, 2011), Normo (Brussels), and Story Coffee. Belgian barista education is advanced: Brussels hosts the national barista championship and the Brussels Coffee Show (annual consumer event). Belgium's dense cafe culture and high disposable income support 4-7 euro specialty drinks. The Congo connection gives Belgian coffee a historical depth spanning centuries.
